Hērēs is a biannual magazine that documents contemporary queer creation.
Each issue functions as a space for observation and experimentation built
around a theme, bringing together artworks, texts, portraits, and interviews.
Independent and self-published, the magazine highlights alternative ways of
thinking and creating, challenging established codes to imagine other possible futures.
In this issue 0, centered on the theme of Medievalcore, we explore
the Middle Ages through perspectives that break away from the dominant
narratives we are taught from an early age.
How can the medieval become a refuge for thinking about the future ?
Beyond the image of the virile knight rescuing his princess, we examine
medievalcore as a countercultural language: a pre-capitalist era, a distant
world where imaginaries are freed, far removed from norms of gender and sexual
orientation.
